This article show you the method to stream your DVD movies for playing Vizio TV via NAS or DLNA enabled devices.


From Vizio TV offical website we know that the defaut video format supported by Vizio Smart TV/4K TV is ONLY mp4, no matter from NAS or DLNA devices, or via USB port. If you have many DVD collections, how to streaming them for playing on Vizio TV with NAS or DLNA Devices?

Rip DVD disc to MP4 format

This is not a difficult task, for streaming DVD movies on Vizio TV with NAS or DLNA devices, you just need to rip the DVD movies to the Vizio TV compatible MPEG-4 / H.264 AVC video codec with AAC audio, then transfer them to NAS or DLNA devices, then it shoulod be playable on Vizio TV with NAS or DLNA devices.

If your DVD discs are commercial ones with copy & region protection, you will still have to remove the protection first. To rip DVD disc to MPEG-4 / H.264 AVC video, you just need a DVD ripping tool. Step 1: Import DVD movie.

Launch Brorsoft DVD Ripper, and click the button like a disc to add DVD movie.

You can tick the box in front of the file you want to rip.

If necessary, you can double click the each file to have a preview.


Step 2: Select MPEG-4 / H.264 MP4 as output format

Click on the dropdown menu of “Format” and then move your pointer to “HD video > “H.264 HD Video (*.mp4)” which is the compatible format for Vizio TV.


Then you can set the output folder by clicking “Browse” icon as you need.

Tips: If you wanna edit DVD movie, you can click the “Edit” icon to edit, like cropping, trimming, adding watermark effect, deinterlacing, merging, rotating and more.

Step 3: Click “Settings” icon to adjust audio and video parameters.

Click the “Settings” icon and you will go into a new interface named “Profile Settings”. You can adjust codec, aspect ratio, bit rate, frame rate, sample rate and audio channel in the interface according to your needs and optimize the output file quality.


Step 4: Start converting DVD to H.264 HD Video

Click the “Convert” icon, the DVD to Vizio TV conversion will start immediately. You can follow the converting process in the “Conversion” interface.

When the conversion finished, you can get the output files via clicking on “Open” button effortlessly.

The following steps share you the method to streaming ripped DVD movies in MPEG-4 / H.264 MP4 format for playing on VIZIO HDTV via NAS or DLNA Devices.

1. Move the file you want to view on the TV into a shared folder/library on the NAS devices or DLNA enabled devices.
2. Both the TV and the NAS devices or DLNA enabled devices must be connected to the same network.
3. Press the V logo button (on the VIZIO remote) to open the App dock on the TV.
4. Select Multimedia from the App dock and press OK.
5. In the Multimedia menu, you should see the NAS devices or DLNA enabled devices you are trying to share your media with…select that device. (some models may actually list DLNA). From here you can see all shared folders.
6. Select the ripped DVD movies to play it.

An alternative option is to put your file on a USB flash drive and plug it directly into the USB port on the Vizio TV. Once you plug it in, a message will appear on the screen stating that media was detected. Select Yes and you can then view your ripped DVD movies and play from there.
